| COMING UP AT OBJECT GALLERY IN 2009 |
MAIN GALLERY Abundant 30 January – 5 April 2009 Abundant documents the work of Australian architects at the forefront of contemporary practice. Showing in 2008 at the 11th Annual Architecture Biennale in Venice this exhibition will hit Sydney shores in January 2009, and Object will be hosting the only Australian showing of the exhibition. This exhibition highlights the breadth and depth of Australia’s architectural practice, showcasing Australia’s diverse architectural history and inspirational future. All architects involved in the exhibition have been asked to create interpretative models based on Venice Biennale Director Aaron Betsky’s theme: 'Out there: architecture beyond building'. The Sydney presentation of Abundant will showcase a selection of 100 of these models, with individual descriptions that reveal the key characteristics of each project. The exhibition will include a range of emerging and established practices to demonstrate the divergent approaches to generating buildings here and now.
