LIVING TREASURES: MASTERS OF AUSTRALIAN CRAFT

8 November 2008 – 25 January 2009

The Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft series has been central to Object’s exhibition program for the last four years. Aiming to celebrate the achievements of Australia’s most outstanding and influential senior crafts practitioners, this series is widely regarded as one of the most important undertakings in the Australian craft sector. Object is pleased to announce that the forth practitioner to be celebrated as a Living Treasure is the internationally acclaimed textile artist, Liz Williamson.

Drawing influence from her upbringing on a farm near Central Victoria, Williamson has been producing exquisite pieces for over 30 years that display her characteristic interest in the construction of cloth. Williamson has designed for industry, produced unique works for major exhibitions, maintained ongoing studio production, and remains an influential teacher and mentor in the field of textiles.

Object is honoured to present this master artist at Object Gallery, followed by an extensive national tour. The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive monograph.
