Here.Now celebrates the debut of new work by South Australian designers Daniel To and Emma Aiston, known as Daniel.Emma, and Victorian designer Thomas Llewellyn, co-winners of the 2011 Object Australian Design Now competition. Presented with original sketches and notes, this exhibition provides a fascinating glimpse into the ‘here and now’ of two of Australia’s brightest young design practices.
Daniel.Emma met whilst studying Industrial Design at the University of South Australia. After graduating in 2007, To and Aiston spent two years in London gaining experience with leading design studios, culminating in the establishment of Daniel.Emma. The design duo exhibited their first collection ‘shapes’ in London and Tokyo; their second collection ‘solids’ followed as they returned home to Adelaide in 2009. 2010 revealed their first production collection, ‘D.E’.
Thomas Llewellyn completed a Bachelor of Industrial Design at the Royal Institute of Technology in 2010. Since graduating Thomas has established his own studio in East Brunswick, Victoria. His award winning concepts focus on designing and making objects that are imbued with artistic enquiry and craftsmanship.
