Stories In Form

27 January – 25 March 2012

Stories provide a powerful means of communication, and in design they are part of a dynamic process involving the designer, product and owner. Object’s first Main Gallery exhibition of 2012, Stories In Form, will explore this through the work of five Australian designers — Elliat Rich, bernabeifreeman, Henry Wilson, Cinnamon Lee and Ben McCarthy — curated by Jacqueline Power.

On display will be everyday objects framed in a new way, from dining chairs to lights and bowls. Each of these products by award-winning designers has a story — but it is not just the story of the journey from conception to design and production. The stories speak to the future of the objects, the past of the designer, and the input of the final user.

EVERGREEN: fresh sustainable fashion

Featuring Julia Knüpfer, Holly McQuillan and Georgia McCorkill, EVERGREEN presents a new generation of designers who are changing the look and feel of ‘eco’ fashion with innovative and beautiful designs.

Many Australians consider sustainability when making lifestyle choices, however the process of applying these values to fashion is made difficult by the depth and complexity of information available.

While united in their aspirations for a more sustainable future, eco-conscious designers are faced with considerable challenges in realising their designs, and many shoppers struggle to find the right information to make considered purchases.
