A major focus of sustainable fashion and a significant theme in EVERGREEN is the concept of life-cycle; where an object begins, where it will end up, and whether it will continue to serve a purpose or retain value.
In producing an exhibition about eco-fashion, it was vital to consider sustainability in all aspects of the production, communication and display. From recycled paper wall panels to natural branch displays sculpted by our neighbouring florist and carried by foot to the gallery, we have enjoyed making eco conscious selections.
My hope is that this room sheet will be put to good (even great) use. Perhaps it will serve as a memento for an enjoyable or thought-provoking experience. Or perhaps you will tear off the back page and place the Mind Map by your wardrobe as a way to remain mindful of your fashion decisions.
But wouldn’t it be great if it continued to serve a purpose beyond information? The front page of your EVERGREEN room sheet is printed on seed paper that will grow a flowering plant. Better still, it grows a Chamomile plant. Once your plant has flourished, simply pick the small daisy like flowers, dry them out, and enjoy delicious cups of Chamomile tea.
We are inviting you to share a photo of your Chamomile plant (even the smallest sprout!) on our Facebook wall, or tweet it @ObjectAU to go in the draw to win an annual subscription to Peppermint Magazine.
Happy planting!
