Object's Audio Design Museum has launched in Melbourne!

Design tours are now available for free download as podcasts for iPods, iPhones and mp3 players from www.audiodesignmuseum.com

Each podcast is narrated with personal anecdotes and stories from 100 local designers and include supporting maps and imagery.

Further tours to come in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane!

Commencing late July, Object will play host to the Spring Series - 14 exciting new projects, marking a new phase in our programming schedule. 

 

For 10 weeks, the Spring Series will platform diverse and experimental activity that will replace Object's regular program of exhibitions.

In June, alongside the exhibition Mind + Matter: Meditations on Immateriality, which will be on show in Object Gallery, and in partnership with The Australian National University and the Surry Hills Library, Object will host a symposium on current directions in Australia glass. The symposium will reflect on the show and explore the minimalist abstract tendencies that are currently evident in contemporary Australian glass. This trend will also be explored in relation to the wider international context for contemporary glass.

CDE is a new, open access, peer-reviewed, online journal that interrogates discourses surrounding craft and design practice.

Dr Kevin Murray is guest editor of the third issue of craft + design enquiry e-journal focusing on the carbon issue - sustainability in craft and design. The journal is calling for papers for this issue by 30 June 2010. It will be published in 2011.

Living Edge returns in 2010 as the major sponsor of Design Now, partnering with Object Gallery to recognize and raise the profile of emerging Australian designers.

DEADLINE 30 June 2010

Object Gallery has two key exhibition spaces; the Main Gallery and the Project Space. We invite proposals for consideration in the Project Space; a space ideally suited to solo or small scale group exhibitions by both emerging and established practitioners working across craft and design practice.

We are now accepting proposals for Project Space shows between July 2011 and June 2012.

All submissions should include the following:

12 images of work produced in the last two years
A 2 page (maximum) outline of your proposal
A current CV (1 page maximum)

Object: Australian Centre for Craft and Design has announced the 18 finalists for its annual national graduate exhibition Design Now! 2010. This highly anticipated event showcases the outstanding work of 2009 design graduates selected from over 250 nominees across Australia.
